Warden Message: Port-au-Prince, Haiti Ongoing Demonstrations

U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince issued the following Warden Message on August 24:
The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is issuing this Warden Message to alert U.S. citizens to ongoing demonstrations this Monday, August 24, 2009 in the following areas:
- Turgeau (Ave Jean Paul II)
- Bois Verna
- Rue Capois
- Ave Christophe
- Place Jeremie
- Delmas 61
- Nazon (Martin Luther King)
American citizens are encouraged to stay abreast of media coverage of local events and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Furthermore, we continue to advise all Americans in Haiti to remain alert and to avoid all demonstrations as they can result in violence and require police intervention. In addition, American citizens are also urged to register with the U.S. Embassy. They can do so at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/.
